We are a group of people who live or work in the Gorge Tillicum community. Our members create a platform for use by people in and beyond our community for the purpose of:
• Sharing information about, and practical support for, sustainable food production and harvesting
• Expanding understanding about the nature of food security and of urban, rural, traditional and indigenous food systems
• Inviting participation in a variety of activities and projects relating to food, food security and food sovereignty.
• Strengthening community bonds through activities relating to elements of local and other food systems
(production, preparation, consumption, etc.)
Our vision for Gorge Tillicum Urban Farmers is of a group that is small enough to allow us to have a chance of getting to know each other, yet large enough to achieve the objectives we’ve set for ourselves. Consequently, we limit membership to people living or working in the Gorge Tillicum neighbourhood (see map below)
Local groups, businesses or institutions, as well as the people working in them, are welcome to join GTUF as members.
There is currently, no fee associated with GTUF membership, but a suggested donation of $3 is requested for the Monthly Meetings.
